This thorn-free, ground-covering rose thrives in full sun and fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil. It has an average growth rate, a flowering period from July to September, and is fully hardy. Recently introduced, it is ideal for pots or the front of a border. Its thornless stems spread to form a low mound that produces many apple blossom-like flowers throughout the summer. When planting in winter, ensure the soil is not frozen. Dig a hole twice as wide as the roots and incorporate composted matter. A top-dressing of general-purpose fertiliser can be added, and using Rose Rootgrow is recommended to support root development, particularly in beds where roses were previously grown to combat replant disease. Spread the roots gently in the hole, ensuring the bud union is at soil level. Once positioned, back-fill and firm the soil before watering well. Maintain regular watering until established and apply a specialist rose fertiliser every spring. A mulch of composted farmyard manure in spring is beneficial, provided it is kept away from the stems. Minimal pruning is required; however, if needed, use tough gloves to remove dead or damaged stems and trim over-long growth in late winter or early spring. Spent flowers can also be removed as they fade.
