Dwarf Crab Apple 'Red Sentinel' on M9 Rootstock - Compact Patio and Container Tree

Compact dwarf crab apple ideal for patios and small gardens. Malus 'Red Sentinel' produces masses of pale pink flowers in April–May, followed by bright red fruits in autumn that often persist into winter. Grafted on M9 dwarfing rootstock and grown to a compact shape, the tree suits containers and a 5 Litre pot; without routine pruning it can reach 2–2.5 m, while annual winter pruning keeps it short. Potted trees arrive ready to plant; bare-root trees are delivered in autumn or winter and should be planted within seven days or kept with roots moist. Plant in slightly acidic, moist, well-draining soil with the graft union just above the soil, water regularly during the first year, mulch in spring, and prune out dead or diseased wood to a healthy bud, cutting back current season growth by about a quarter to an outward-facing bud or removing the central leader to encourage side shoots.
